Everyone loves a good chuckle, children especially. Reading stories aloud that make a child laugh become a bonding experience.

Early learning environments where the laughter is contagious are magical places for reader and listeners alike.

In some ways this is a crazy list. How is it possible to choose just five funny stories when there are so many amazing children’s authors? It’s not! – this list is decidedly incomplete so feel free to add your suggestions in the comments section.

Here are just 5 read aloud funny stories to laugh at (and add to).

A book with no pictures may seem a little bland as a children’s book. That’s until you exercise your reading skills on the funny story Novak has created. Suddenly the adult reading becomes the silliest person in the room. This book is on so many “funniest books” lists it has become an international bestseller.
